About WiFiSpeed

The WiFiSpeed project was created to provide users with up-to-date information about the speed of Internet connection in public Wi-Fi networks.

In today’s world, access to the Internet has become an integral part of everyday life. Wi-Fi connection is the primary method of connectivity for most users, especially in public places such as cafes, restaurants, shopping centers, fitness clubs and other public spaces.

However, the quality of this connection can vary, which directly affects what content you can consume.

We understand how important it is to know what speed you’re currently receiving so you can use your devices wisely and understand your connectivity options.

Why it’s important?

  • Messengers and Email: Sending messages and checking email doesn’t require a fast connection speed. These tasks are easily accomplished even with slow internet speeds.
  • VoIP calls: Making calls over the Internet (e.g. using Skype, Google Meet or Zoom) requires a stable connection with a medium speed. If the speed is slow, delays and dropped calls may occur.
  • YouTube videos: Standard quality (SD) videos can be viewed with a medium speed connection. High quality (HD) videos require faster speeds.
  • YouTube in 4K: You need a very fast Internet connection to comfortably watch ultra-high definition (4K) videos. This speed is not available on most public Wi-Fi networks.

How it works?

The wifispeed.is service allows users to quickly and easily measure the speed of their Internet connection at the moment they connect to the network. Using our tool, you can get data about the following parameters:

  • Ping: The response time from the server to your device, which is especially important for online gaming and VoIP calls.
  • Jitter: Jitter is the variation in the delay time of signals during data transmission
  • Download speed: A metric that determines how fast you can download data from the internet to your device.
  • Upload speed: A metric that indicates how fast you can send data from your device to the internet.

Why is it necessary?

Knowing the real speed of your internet connection will help you to:

  • Optimize the use of your devices: Understand which tasks are best performed at a given connection level.
  • Avoid frustrations: Avoid unpleasant surprises when you try to watch a high-resolution video or make an important video call.
  • Compare network quality: Compare the quality of different public Wi-Fi networks and choose the best one for your needs.

Our project aims to make the use of internet in public places more transparent and convenient for every user. Try our service and see for yourself how effective it is!
